The Kimsun Air 10 All-In-One

KIMSUN air10

We have tried a lot of the all-in-one pod systems that have been creating a lot of crazy in the vape world, most are subpar when it comes to flavour and vapor quality. Needing to vape high Nicotine content or Nicotine salts to get a decent cessation which gives a nice throat hit all at the cost of flavour. So we haven’t posted any reviews on them till now (they don’t qualify), meet the Air 10 by Kimsun/Kimree, an all-in-one that offers a lot the others can’t, but there’s a catch…

At first glance it’s an odd organic shape/silhouette, but pick it up and it all makes a lot of sense. The Air 10 feels very comfortable in the hand. There is a hard rubberized finish on the battery/lower part of the mod that seems to be very durable. It’s a simple system with 5 clicks on/off and some standard safety protection. The pods themselves house a 10ml juice reservoir, airflow, drip tip/top of the mod, and a 0.25 Ohm Titanium wire coil. Simple click in and play functionality makes this system extremely easy to use. There is a nice click into place (pods) that feels substantial and tough, unlike many others on the market that feel delicate and weak. The biggest issue with the aesthetic is the branding, it’s all over it. Logos are mirrored on both sides of the mod and pod, it’s overkill and makes an otherwise attractive little mod (has a pebble/river stone quality to it) look busy and a little cheap. The fire button could loose the vapor/smoke icon too, button feel/click is okay though. 5 blue LEDs light up on fire and also show battery level. It’s a smart little automatic system that works really well.

Flavour is impressive, we can’t get over how consistent the performance is. There is very little break-in for the coil/cotton. Quickly giving you a satisfying, flavourful vape. Our sample came with a Watermelon Smoothy (Watermelon Menthol), a tasty hit of Mint with a subtle Watermelon that has a very pleasant aftertaste. 6mg Nicotine seems perfect, good throat hit and flavour. There is a nice warmth to the vapor, it runs like an RTA or RDA with a 0.5 Ohm build run around 25-30W. In other words, an impressive vape quality and flavour. The Air 10 could satisfy a new and seasoned vaper with ease. The perfect first vape or lazy day for someone more experienced.

Airflow is a fixed restricted lung hit. Much more airflow than any of the other systems on the market. We don’t see a need for an AFC, if you wanted more restriction it’s pretty easy to block some of the airflow with your finger. Best performance is accomplished by titling the airflow below your mouth, this also help flow the juice directly to the coil (the top shape of the mod also looks more natural this way, finger fire rather than a thumb fire).

Pods hold up, we haven’t had an ounce of trouble. Another downside, the only way to check your juice level is to remove the pod. A simple juice level window/slot would be an nice addition. 10 ml of juice lasts an extremely long time. The battery life is also impressive, the unit came 3/4 charged and we vaped it empty and then did a full charge (3 hours tops), the juice has lasted 2 full charges (about 2-3 days of reasonably heavy vaping). The coil is super efficient for sure, the quality of the juice is hard to gage (only sampled one profile), but it vapes clean for sure (no signs of gunking). The flavour has been consistent from full to empty, impressive! The biggest issue of all, the pods don’t seem to be available anywhere (even China). There are supposedly 15 flavours in 5 categories (Tobacco, Beverage, Fruit, Menthol, & Dessert) that aren’t listed anywhere either. It’s a shame and has been an issue that has plagued many of the companies producing these systems, there needs to be a stockpile of pods before you launch this kind of product. A refillable/rebuildable Pod would be very nice too.

Fit & Finish seems to be very good. The plastics and metal (Zinc Alloy) materials have a solid feel and smooth appearance. The Air 10 feels like something Braun would make, a real German industrial flair. Some nice Red-Orange LEDs instead of blue with less branding and it would be a real stunner. A slightly more solid metal button would be nice too. But overall its a nice weight (138g) and the finish seems to be very durable.

The Air 10 is an outstanding all-in-one system/device. Easily the best we have tried. Some big retailer needs to pick these up and make the pods more accessible. This device would dominate the market for sure. It’s an absolute shame we can’t get more pods, if we could we would vape the hell out of this device. It’s the perfect lazy day or worry free device you can take anywhere. If you are adventurous and patient, see if you can order one, it will be worth the trouble (might me a one pod vape though). Here is to hoping the Air 10 takes off soon, if at all.

Kimsun Air10 review

The Kimsun Air10 is an e-cigarette-type unit targeted both atcigarette smokers searching for an alternative and advanced vapers who desire a compact, lightweight vaporizer for vaping on the go. The AIR10 is really a tiny, box-formed e-cigarette built by KimSun. The AIR10 utilizes a proprietary disposable atomizer that’s pre-fill with 10ml of e-liquid, available in many tastes (15 Kinds of E-liquid Flavors) and nicotine strengths. While most producers are focused on intermediate-to-advanced vaping enthusiasts with high performance box mods, it’s important to understand that there are beginners out there. They search for someting simple to stop smoking. The Air 10 by Kimsun is packaged with all you need for vaping. You don’t have to install a coil or something like that with this device. When the Air 10 is charged, you can begin to vape with this unit. This Kimsun item is really interessant and the taste is very good as you will see on the review below.

Air 10 Kimsun : the new vape all in one starter kit

You will see several aspects of this new all in one starter kit.

What’s in the box ?

In the box, you will find the following elements :

  • E-liquid cartridge,
  • Air10 battery,
  • An USB cable to charge the device,
  • An instruction manual.

So, you’ve got all elements to begin vaping. It’s a very good starter kit for people who want to stop smoking and have a very user-friendly device. No liquid to purchase, you have a cartrige with 10ml of e-liquid.

Look of the Kimsun Air 10

The AIR10 is very small. You can hold it on you hand very easily. The shape is quite unique with the 2 elements : the cartridge and the battery mod with a capacity of 1700mah. It looks very amazing and the size is ideal for a people who love single 18650 box mod.

To operate the device, you have only one button : the fire button. You press on it and you’ve got directly the power on the cartridge. A strip of LED lights shows the battery level. Very well designed, the Kimsun Air 10 is very to vape with this unit. You don’t have to regulate your power. The chipset makes the job for you. To be honest, the Kimsun Air10 performs about as well as my favorite atomizers.

There are five LED indicators on the mod that light when you’re vaping. They also serve to display remaining battery capacity. The fire button is located just above the LEDs

Performance of the Kimsun Air10

The first thing that you need to realize is that the AIR10 is a closed system e-cigarette, meaning that it’s only compatible with their proprietary cartridge. It’s not possible to refill the system. Maybe one day, the manufacter will produce a new type of cartridge ? The atomizer connects to the mod magnetically.

The proprietary cartridge holds 10ml of e-liquid. You can vape with this system for 2/3 days. It was my case for this test. The Air 10 is a temperature control device without the control. It operates at a constant 530° F to provide a consistent experience. The 0.25Ω titanium coil of the Air10 seems to do a great job keeping the temperature constant and generating impressive clouds of vapor with no burnt taste. The flavor “water melon” was amazing in my mouth. The vapor production is far better than an As pire Nautilus for example.

It takes less than 3 hours to fully charge from an empty battery. It weighs a lightweight 138g. The dimensions are 38.7 x 25.2 x 102mm. Like I told you before, this all in one kit is tiny.

Kimsun Air10 E-Cigarette Review

The Kimsun Air10 is an e-cigarette-type device aimed both at smokers looking for an alternative and intermediate vapers who want a small, portable vaporizer for vaping on the go. With most independent manufacturers these days racing to come out with more powerful and complex devices, it’s easy to forget that the vast majority of vapers still use entry-level e-cigs, most of which are extremely inefficient in replacing tobacco cigarettes, and it’s them that Kimsun is targeting with the new Air10.
My first experience with a Kimsun product has been reviewing the tiny TC40W Mini mod, which I actually found decent for its price, so I have high hopes that the Air10 e-cigarette is actually superior to the cigalike-type vaporizers that Big Tobacco is pushing hard right now. Let’s take a look at this little guy and see what it’s all about:

The Kimsun Air10 comes in a large cardboard box, with pictures of the electronic cigarette dominating both the front and back of the packaging. The usual info, like contents, warnings and company information or on the side of the box.
Inside the box you’ll find a large blister containing a disposable Air10 e-liquid cartridge, the Air10 e-cigarette, a micro USB charging cable, and an instructions leaflet. It’s a pretty standard e-cigarette starter kit – you basically get everything you need to start vaping right away. Cartridges come pre-filled with a whopping 10 ml of e-liquid, so all you need to do is pop them on the device and enjoy the flavored vapor. The buckle design of the cartridges and the magnetic connection means that there is no screwing required, so inserting and removing the cartridges is quick and easy. Well, at least the inserting, because popping one of these bad boys out of the Air10 housing actually requires a fair bit of strength.

The Air10 has a somewhat unusual design for an electronic cigarette. Instead of the classic cigarette shape or the cylindrical design of eGo-style e-cigs, Kimsun went for something that I can only describe as a distorted oval shape with a mouthpiece sticking out at the top. It’s not bad looking at all, to be honest, and it actually feels great in the hand. The only features worth mentioning are the plastic fire button (with an actual flame on it), the USB charging port and the LED battery indicator made up of five individual LEDs that light up whenever you press the fire button. When the battery is full, all five lights will come on when you use the Air10, but as it discharges, the lights go out one by one.
I do have some concerns about the placement of the airflow slots on the back of the replaceable cartridge. When you hold the Air10 in you hand, there’s a high chance of accidentally covering these slots with your finger and completely blocking the air to the coil. It only happened to me a couple of times, but maybe they should have just placed them somewhere less problematic, just to be sure.

The Kimsun Air10 measures 48.7 x 25.2 x 102 and weighs 138 grams. That actually puts it in the same size category as small mods like the SMOK OSUB Plus or the Eleaf iStick PICO, although those are advanced vaporizers, whereas this is a simple electronic cigarette with an unusual design. The main body of the Air10 is made of zinc alloy and has a rubberized finish for improved grip. It’s light and feels great in the hand, thanks in part to the rounded edges.
Like the Pax JUUL, the Kimsun Air10 is a closed vaping system, which means that you can only use it with a proprietary type of cartridges. These actually make up the entire top part of the Air10, including the mouthpiece. So when you vape the whole 10ml of e-liquid, all you can do is throw this cartridge away and get a new one. Looking at the cartridge, I don’t think refilling is an option, as the platic mouthpiece appears to be press-fit onto to the e-liquid container.

My wife actually prefers these closed systems to the nearly infinite combination of mods and atomizer I usually use, because they are usually mess free. There’s no leaking, you don’t have to build any coils, or regularly change cotton wicks, just pop in a new juice cartridge and you’re good to go. On the downside, you’re confined to a single style of atomizer, a whatever selection of e-liquids the manufacturer provides, and the cost of cartridges is higher. I have no idea what Air10 cartridges will cost, as Kimsun hasn’t yet released any pricing information yet, but considering their size and the fact that they come with the mouthpiece, I expect they won’t be very cheap.
One thing you won’t have to worry about when using the Kimsun Air10 is flavor diversity. The Chinese company has already announced a selection of 15 different flavors to choose from, as well as several nicotine strengths. You’ll be able to pick from Tobacco 1, Banana Milk, Honey Dew, Tobacco 2, Watermelon Smoothies, Green Mint, Milk, Strawberry with Milk, Whiskey and Chinese Style Flue-Cured Tobacco. I went for the last one, and it’s pretty decent. I hadn’t vaped tobacco since reviewing the Black Note e-liquid line, but I was curious of how well they had reproduced the taste of tobacco, as this device primarily targets fresh ex-smokers, and people looking to make the switch to vaping.

Chinese Style Flue-Cured Tobacco might appeal more to someone looking for an authentic tobacco taste, but it just reminded me of how glad I am to have given up smoking years ago. There are so much more enticing flavors out there! I would have loved to know the propylene glycol – vegetable glycerin levels used in the juice, but unfortunately I could not find such information on the Kimsun website, or anywhere else for that matter.
The Air10 battery has a capacity of 1700 mAh, which may seem abysmal for a high-power mod, but for a device aimed at beginners it’s actually pretty decent. I’ve only gone through a full charge a couple of times, just to test out the battery life, and on both occasions I got about seven hours of use out of it. That’s pretty impressive for such a small vaporizer, especially one that actually produces a fair amount of vapor with each draw.

You can find entry-level devices with slightly better battery life, like the Stick One Plus (2000 mAh), but the difference really isn’t considerable in real life usage, so if you prefer the unique design of the Kimsun Air10, don’t let a few milliamp-hours hold you back. For its size and performance, the Air10 offers above average  battery life.
Simple devices aimed at beginners don’t usually feature temperature control, but the Kimsun Air10 does. In fact, I was surprised to learn that it operates at a constant 530 degrees Fahrenheit, adjusting the power level to reach this setting. As you might have guessed, that also means that the coil in the replaceable e-liquid cartridge is made of a TC-compliant material. In this case, it’s titanium, which which I don’t have a lot of experience. I mainly use stainless steel for temperature control vaping, but the tiny 0.25Ω coil of the Air10 seems to do a great job keeping the temperature constant and generating impressive clouds of vapor with no burnt taste.

The Kimsun Air10 is a nice-looking device with some genuinely interesting features, but as always, it all comes down to how well it vapes. In this regard, I have to say that I was very impressed with this little guy. The vapor production is far better than most other electronic cigarettes I have tried before, there is absolutely no delay – you press the fire button and the coil instantly starts to sizzle – and the draw is just right. It might seem a bit too airy for fresh ex-smokers, but not overly so, plus the improved airflow contributes to the vapor production.
To be honest, the Kimsun Air10 performs about as well as my all-time favorite e-cig, the Joyetech eGo AIO, which is saying something. I’m well past this type of device, but if I were a beginner looking for my first electronic cigarette, the Air10 would definitely be a great choice.

Unfortunately, I can’t offer any information on the pricing of the Kimsun Air10 starter kit and disposable cartridges, or even where you can buy it from. I was unable to find a single online store that carries it, and the Kimsun website only provides general information about the product. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Kimsun TC40W Mini Kit Review

If you’re in the market for a stealthy box mod that has a decent power output, does temperature control and is firmware upgradable, look no further than the tiny Kimsun TC40W Mini. In this review, we’ll be taking a look at the kit version of this device, which comes with the Kimsun STL Tank 2.

I’m going to be perfectly honest and say that I wasn’t expecting very much from the Kimsun TC40W Mini mod. The brand name didn’t ring a bell – I later learned it’s a subsidiary of Chinese manufacturer Kimree – and after seeing how small this thing really is, I was convinced it was going to be a total letdown. Boy, was I wrong! The TC40W Mini is actually very impressive for its size, with a maximum power output of 40 Watts and several built-in features that I’m used to seeing in larger, more robust advanced bods.

A Look at the Contents

The Kimsun TC40W Mini kit includes the box mod, a 1.1 ml glass tank, two Titanium coil heads (0.32Ω), a charging/upgrade cable, a user manual and a bunch of promotional materials (leaflets, cards, etc.). Basically, apart from e-juice, you have everything you need to start vaping.

The size of the TC40W Mini will probably shock you. Until seeing this device, I was convinced stealthy box mods couldn’t get any smaller than the Eleaf iStick Pico, but the Kimsun actually makes that thing look big and bulky. At just 34.6(L)×21.2(W)×99.3(H)mm in size, the TC40W Mini is definitely the tiniest box mod I have ever used. Just so you get an idea, it’s smaller than a 30ml juice bottle. It’s also incredibly light, making it easy and comfortable to carry around in your pocket.

The TC40W Mini has a classic rectangular design, and a matte black finish with the Kimsun logo on one side and the name of the mod on the other. The spring-loaded 510 connection is located on top, the mini-USB charging/upgrade port is on the bottom, and the power and adjustment buttons are on one of the smaller sides of the mod. The only thing I couldn’t figure out was where they had put the LED display.

I knew that the Kimsun TC40 Mini was supposed to be a variable wattage and temperature control mod, but with no display to be seen, how was I going to tell if I set it up correctly? I actually had to consult the user manual about this, and found that the metallic top side of the device is actually a concealed LED screen that is only visible when you push one of the buttons. It’s a clever way to incorporate the display and only adds to its stealth-vaping qualities.

The display is one of the brightest, most elegant I’ve ever seen on a mod. The info is displayed in large purple characters, making it easy to read. Pressing the power button on the Kimsun TC40W Mini brings up the LED screen. The battery life is displayed for just a second, after which it quickly switches to the current wattage setting. You can adjust the power output by pressing the “+” and “-” keys, or go into temperature control mode. Just press the power button three times in rapid succession to get into the menu and browse the available options. We have “PPP” or power mode, Ti (both Fahrenheit and Celsius) and Ni (also Fahrenheit and Celsius). Unfortunately, the TC40W Mini doesn’t support stainless steel at this time, but that might become available through a firmware upgrade, at some point.

The mod reads the resistance of the atomizer automatically after you screw it on, and you can see it on the display by pressing the “+” and “-” buttons simultaneously. To turn it on and off, just press the power button five times in rapid succession.

Battery Life and Overall Performance

It’s important to keep in mind the size of the TC40W Mini when talking about battery life. The 1100mAh capacity of its built-in battery may not seem like much when compared to that of high-power dual-18650 mods, but for what is essentially a micro mod, it’s actually pretty decent.

Using it at the full 40W, I could only get about two hours of vaping out of the Kimsun TC40 Mini before the battery needed a recharge, but I noticed that lowering the wattage to about 25W increased battery life to about half a day. As a heavy vaper, this is definitely not a device I see myself using exclusively. I usually vape at much more than 40W and the battery capacity just can’t keep up with my daily needs.

But that’s what my bulky, high-power box mods are for. The TC40W is perfect for vaping on the go, which is why I usually took with me on short drives or when carrying a bigger device would have been too uncomfortable. As a backup vaporizer, this tiny thing is great! 40W max power output may not be ideal for cloudchasers and advanced users who prefer a hotter vape, but it keeps your nicotine addiction in check, and that’s what matters most.

Also, I’m pretty sure Kimsun didn’t design the TC40W Mini with advanced users in mind. Sure, it’s great for vaping on the go, but for beginners and casual vapers, it could actually be a great main device, certainly much better than the cigalikes most people start their vaping experience with. If you prefer cooler mouth-to-lung vaping, using the TC40W Mini at low wattage, could definitely increase its battery life to about a day.

Another advantage of this little guy is the passthrough option. If you’re worried about the small battery capacity of the TC40W Mini, you can just use the included micro-USB cable to keep it hooked up to a power source like a laptop or PC and ensure you never run out of power.

The user manual mentions that the Kimsun TC40W Mini takes around 2 hours to fully charge, but I noticed that that time drops to around just one hour if you don’t drain it completely. For example, I usually charge it when it still has 20% power and it goes back up to 100% in under 50 minutes.

One thing I don’t like about this device is that it doesn’t have any battery venting holes. Even though it has multiple built-in protection features, like overheating protection, short-circuit protection and low-voltage protection, I still think a few venting slots would have been required for safety purposes.

Vapor Production

When it comes to vapor production, the Kimsun TC40W Mini kit performs admirably for its size and limited power output, but I can’t help but think it could have been even better if not for the design of the STL Tank 2 coil heads. It’s actually a pity, because the tank actually features adjustable airflow slots that technically make both mouth-to-lung and direct lung hits possible, but the tiny wicking holes of the coil heads make direct hitting much less satisfying. They just don’t allow enough juice to reach the coil and also make the draw tighter than it should be

But even as just a mouth-to-lung device, the TC40W is actually surprisingly good. Vapor production is decent – by MTL standards – as is the juice flavor. You get more vapor than from any cigalike currently on the market, which I’d say makes this a worthwhile alternative for anyone looking to switch from smoking cigarettes.

If you’re looking for more than just MTL vaping, the good news is that the Kimsun TC40W Mini is compatible with any 510 tank you might prefer, although anything over 22mm in diameter overhangs a little. I for one tried it with the SMOK TFV4 Mini, and even though you could tell they were not made for each other, they performed pretty well. I’m dying to try it with the Wotofo Serpent Mini RTA, though, as they seem like a much better match. I need to get some more titanium wire first, though. The point is, this mod works with any 510 tank, so the combinations are endless.

The Tank

The Kimsun STL Tank 2 is a bottom filling tank with a juice capacity of 1.1ml. That’s not a lot at all, and even when vaping at low wattage, I had to top it off after just a few minutes, for fear of burning the coil head. It’s made of stainless steel and glass, and features adjustable airflow slots. It’s actually a decent tank, but again, I have to mention the design of the coil heads as a weakness. Because of those tiny wiking holes, chain vaping and long draws at high wattage are not recommended. The juice has a tough time reaching the coil, so even with a resistance of just 0.32Ω, you still get dry hits. To avoid them, you should probably only use the TC40W Mini in temperature control mode.

So would I recommend the Kimsun TC40W Mini kit? Definitely! Whether you’re a total beginner looking to get into vaping with a simple-to-use vaporizer that’s also elegant and packed full of features, or a casual user who doesn’t need huge power output, or even an advanced vaper interested in a tiny device that does temperature control and is easy to carry around, this little guy is definitely worth it. Did I mention that the whole kit costs under $40 ($38.80, to be exact)? You just can’t beat that price for such a stylish quality package.

Is it perfect? Of course not! The battery life isn’t  that great and the tiny wicking holes on the STL Tank2 coils are a problem, but I’d say the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

KIMSUN Air 10 Vape Mail

Vape mail is a great way to start the week, and that’s what arrived today, from our friends at Kimsun, a brand of Kimree. It’s their new AIR 10 Starter Kit. The AIR 10 features a pre-filled, disposable 10 ml atomizer.

The atomizer has a 0.25 ohm Titanium coil. It features what Kimsun calls a “U-Turn airflow input” system with three airflow ports. The Kimsun website says that there will be 15 flavors of ejuice spread across five categories; tobacco flavor, drink flavor, fruit flavor, mint flavor and dessert & food flavor.

When Kimsun contacted me they supplied a list of 10 flavors for me to choose from; Tobacco 1, Banana Milk, Honey Dew, Tobacco 2, Watermelon Smoothies, Green Mint, Milk, Strawberry with Milk, Whiskey and Chinese Style Flue-Cured Tobacco 1. I choose Strawberry with Milk, and that’s what they supplied.

The Air 10 mod has an internal 1700 mAh battery that’s rechargeable via a micro USB port on the front of the device with the included charging cable. Kimsun bills the Air 10 as a temperature control mod, though the temperature is not adjustable. It fires at a constant 530 F and, one could suppose, the ejuice is crafted to be best at that temperature.

The Kimsun website does not yet list a price on the AIR 10 Starter Kit or the replacement atomizers. As soon as I get that information I’ll pass it along, hopefully by the time the full in-depth review is live. Before that, in the next few days, I’ll post a First Look piece on the AIR 10, where I’ll go over the specs, put the kit together and give it a first vape.

If you follow Seven Report on Twitter or Facebook you’ll find out that way when those pieces are live. Thanks again to Kimsun for providing the AIR 10 for review. They’ve been a review product supplier and Seven Report advertiser for some time now.

Kimsun Slim 2 Review

Vape on Vape off with the Kimsun Slim 2 Pod Mod

The Kimsun Slim 2 is one of the first in a new wave of so called ‘Pod Mods’ to hit the vaping scene.

The ‘Mod’ part is self-explanatory – in this case it’s an 1100mAh battery with a constant temperature setting of 530 F.

The ‘Pod’ is a self-contained atomizer with 2ml of e-liquid and this can be snapped on and snapped off for easy use and disposal.

So after spending a week vaping on Kimsun’s Slim 2 is this a vaping device I’d be glad to dispose of or one that I’d keep?

Let’s take a closer look.

In the Box

As packaging goes the Slim 2 comes in a nice little box with a pull away sleeve and a clear plastic window so you can see what you’re getting before you buy.

  • X1 Slim 2 atomizer
  • X1 battery mod
  • X1 USB cable
  • X1 user manual

The device is packed with a dummy pod all ready attached which apart from the aesthetics serves no purpose whatsoever.

It’s a shame Kimsun didn’t fill this with e-liquid but hey I don’t know their margins 😉

Key Features

I guess simplicity and hygiene are the key features here – though saying that the one I received was anything but simple to use – more on that later.

The set-up works like this:

The pod is snapped on and off the mod and given its self-contained there’s no chance of leakage whilst vaping is as simple as hitting the fire button and inhaling. With this being a constant temperature control device the burnt coil sensation is a rare one.

I received a tobacco flavoured pod – Kimsun’s website say 15 e liquid flavours are available – and snapping it on and off was indeed a doddle.

For someone who moans a lot about leaky tanks – fiddly filling and sticky hand coil changing I have to say this aspect of the Kimsun Slim 2 is excellent.

The device can be charged standing upright and I was able to vape whilst it was charging.

Safety Features

  • Short Circuit Protection – no output when resistance drops below 0.1 Ω
  • Overtime Protection – after ten seconds of firing device cuts out
  • Low Voltage Protection – if battery dips below 3.4volts device shuts down

How Does the Kimsun Slim 2 Perform?

OK let me get this out of the way first.

The device I received didn’t seem to want to fire straight out of the box and yes even being known as a bit of a vaping dummy I did remove the dummy pod that is attached to the device when you receive it – honest!

I dutifully charged the Slim 2 for the suggested 2.5 hours and tried again – no joy. I kept it charging for a good 8 hours and still it wouldn’t charge.

Jonny contacted Kimsun who helpfully suggested I removed the ‘hygienic plug’ from the mouthpiece.

Obviously my reputation as a bit of an idiot when it comes to new vaping devices has spread as far as Kowloon. (Jonny – I’ve heard your name mentioned out in Timbuktoo)

I had of course already done that and the only other advice offered was ‘no other reviewer has had a problem.’

Must be me then I thought though the rather large word SAMPLE written in red on the box made me think not only was the attached pod a dummy but also the one in the pill box packaging.

But hey I am not one to give up – so I left it for 24 hours and a lot can happen in 24 hours just ask Jack Bauer 😉

Vaping on the Kimsun Slim 2

I kept snapping the pod on and snapping the pod off and then noticed the two connectors on the mod itself.

One was extremely springy whilst the other was sealed tight with the slightest bit of plastic blocking it.

Given I’m a techy kind of guy [not] I did what most men do when faced with an electrical issue – first off I shook it – then tapped it on my desk – then blew on it a few times – hard.

Finally I got my tiny screw driver and poked it a bit – I’m still here to tell the tale and am pleased to say the connector sprang into life and became as springy as its partner.

After adding ‘technical electrician’ to my CV I snapped on the pod and was delighted to see the red vaping light finally stayed solid which according to Kimsun means:

‘…vaping status when light in red, simulating the effect of cigarette smoke…’

Incidentally there are also four LED blue lights on the side of the device indicating the battery power remaining with all four lit meaning it’s fully charged.

I have to say my first hit on the Slim 2 was nothing to write home about however after 2 or 3 good puffs the pod came awake and I was pleasantly surprised.

The throat hit was very good for the e-liquid I tried and given this is a temperature control device with a 0.25Ohm coil the vapour production was extremely good.

However the taste of the Tobacco 1 [as they call it] e-liquid wasn’t great if I’m honest and as I had no other flavours to test I can’t comment on them ☺

I took the Slim 2 out with me for a day and liked the fact I didn’t have to worry about leakage in my pocket and indeed the weight of the thing – it is as light as can be.

I was also impressed with the battery capacity – after four days of use [a few hours here and there] it finally showed only 3 blue lights so expect plenty of use before needing to recharge.

However the Slim 2 is not the quietest of devices – given the airflow hole is as large and looks exactly like a referee’s whistle it does make a sound like an incoming mortar round.

So it’s stealthy in size but not in sound.

Also, you’re never quite sure when the pod is empty or about to empty. After 5 days or so I finally drained the 2mls [thanks TPD] and I assume the whistling gurgling sound told me it was indeed empty.

Design and Build Quality

It really is a quite beautiful thing to look at as they say on the Antiques Roadshow – but this ain’t no antique – this is suggested as the future of vaping.

Apart from my issue with the too tight connector it’s all put together nicely and the snapping on and off of the pod is strangely satisfying – ‘Vape on – Vape off!’

I like the design too and I’ve just noticed that sitting on my desk right now the Slim 2 is only slightly larger that one of my neon hi-lighter pens – it’s pretty much the same shape and weight too.

What I Like

Obviously I like the idea of the ‘Mod Pod’ – vaping on it is simple as is swapping the atomizer or pod.

The design is elegant and I do like the curved shape with a very nice rubbery base complimenting the black zinc alloy battery case – it’s certainly passes my ‘touch test’.

All in all it is a pretty nice ‘thing’ to look at and hold.

What I Don’t Like

Apart from my earlier reservations – in that mine wouldn’t fire at first – there’s not much to not like about the Slim 2 – it is what it is a vaping mod with disposable refill cartridges.

However it is rather noisy and as I’ve mentioned you’re never completely sure how much juice you have left in the tank.
